Gainbridge (formerly Bankers Life, formerly Conseco) is one of the most basketball-pure arenas in the NBA. It’s not flashy or dripping in luxury, but it doesn’t need to be—this is Indiana, where basketball is basically a religion. The sightlines are great, the atmosphere is genuine, and the crowd is full of folks who probably hit jump shots better than your favorite role player. It feels like a slightly oversized high school gym that just happens to host NBA games, and that’s a compliment. The Pacers may not always contend, but in this building, basketball always matters.
